According to The Mercury News, a security officer at a cardroom in California has been accused of robbing a high roller of a diamond ring.

After its owner unintentionally dropped the $100K ring on the floor at the Parkwest Casino 580 in Livermore, California, on June 22, the unidentified suspect is accused of pocketing it.

When he got up from the poker table, the high roller thinks the ring must have fallen out of his pocket, but he told investigators he brought it to the casino to show it off to a friend.  Later, a merchant found the ring still in its box and gave it to security.

Captured on Video

The claimed offense committed by the guard was simple.  When they got the box, they made sure no one was watching before slipping the ring out and putting it in their pocket.

Unexpectedly, nevertheless, considering that a security guard should be aware of the location of the surveillance cameras, they were unaware that the eye in the sky was watching them.

Unfortunately for the suspect, footage was taken of the entire series of events.  Police examined the video after the ring theft was reported, and they were able to identify the criminal right away.

The ring was given back to its proper owner when the 49-year-old Stockton security guard confessed.

$4 Million Baccarat Fraud

In recent years, Parkwest Casino 580 has experienced some poor hiring outcomes.  Khanh “Tina” Tran, a cardroom dealer, and her husband, Eric Nguyen, were given prison sentences in 2022 for planning a $4 million EZ baccarat cheating scam at the establishment.

The plan, which spanned several months in 2015 and 2016, entailed Tran glancing at the card sequence after shuffling, and both Tran and Nguyen entered guilty pleas to felony grand theft.

Her spouse would then sit at her table and gamble after she texted him the information.

Nguyen made big bets after identifying a card sequence Tran had told him, frequently aiming for the "Panda 8," a side bet that pays out 25 to 1 if the banker wins with a three-card total of eight.

Nguyen avoided the majority of losses and won a lot more money than the average gambler by only placing bets when he knew the outcome in advance.

According to The Mercury News, a blackjack dealer was also under investigation in 2022 for allegedly stealing hundreds of dollars' worth of casino chips from Parkwest 580.  She said that in exchange for "hugs," she had been giving the money to a poor cousin.
